Srithammaratsuksa School was founded in 1901 by American Presbyterian missionary Rev.C.E.Elkins for the purpose of spreading the gospel. The first school , established only for the education of boys , was called "The American School For Boys (AMC)" and was located in Thambon Klang , Ampher Muang Nakhon Srithammarat. The first principal was the Rev. R.W. Post and he was succeeded by Miss Larissa Cooper who , in 1909 , added a new building for girls (the site of the present day of Bethlehem church).
In 1915 the girls were moved to Thambon Pakphoon (now Thambon Tawang) the site of the present Kindergarten department. The girls school was called Suksakumaree (learning centre for daughters) with Miss Miller as the head teacher , succeeded by Miss Helen Mackegg.
During the years 1918 to 1923 Rev. Eccles and Rev.F.L.Snyder were the managers of the American School for Boys and they were followed by Miss Helen Mackegg who was the manager until 1930. In 1935 , following her untimely death from a tropical disease a fund was set up in memory of former principal Miss Larissa Cooper. This fund financed the building of a new and larger facility. In 1937, the first Thai manager, Mr.Plod Nanakohn , was appointed with Mr.Meaen Pongnoi as the first Thai principal.
In 1941 the name of the boys school was changed to Srithammarat Withaya and in 1954 the secondary department moved to its current site in Thambon Pakphoon. This land was donated by Lord Damrong Ratchanuparp. The primary department also moved to the new site following the completion of the new building.
In 1955 , the two schools were accredited by the education department of the Thai national government as being equal in standard to government institutions. A decade later in 1967 the Churches of Christ in Thailand took over the school from the Presbyterian mission. They combined the two schools into one co-educational facility and the name was changed to Srithammaratsuksa School.
